What lands in your inbox every Monday
- One CSV with every qualifying permit issued the prior Sunday through Saturday. It opens in Excel or Google Sheets and imports into any CRM.
- For every job: street address and ZIP, neighborhood, parcel # (APN), city valuation, job type (ADU, JADU, garage conversion, addition, kitchen/bath, remodel, pool), the city's scope-of-work text, units added, permit #, issue date and a map link.
- Pool and spa permits included at no extra charge, about 5 a week (median $51,300).
- A short email with the 10 biggest jobs, so you can scan the week in two minutes on your phone.
- Contractor of record when the city lists a company. We never include homeowners' or other individuals' names.
The math
The founding price is $348 a year. The median ADU on last quarter's list was valued at $148,520. If one row in one year turns into a single framing, electrical, window, cabinet or landscaping job, the list has paid for itself many times over.
No per-lead fees, no contract and no bidding against 5 other pros for a form fill. It's one flat price for every qualifying job in the city.
Who it's for
- Subcontractors (framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, roofing, concrete): find out who's building what, and where, while the job is just starting.
- Suppliers and showrooms (windows and doors, cabinets, countertops, flooring, solar, appliances): reach projects early, often before materials are ordered.
- ADU builders and design-build remodelers: track demand by neighborhood, see what competitors are building, and mail or door-knock around active jobs.
- Pool and outdoor trades (fencing, pavers, landscaping, pool service): pool permits are included.
How it's different from "owner-pulled" lead lists
Some services sell only permits pulled by homeowners, which comes to a handful a week. PermitTipoff gives you every qualifying ADU, remodel and pool permit of $15K+, about 47 a week, including jobs that already have a builder. For subs and suppliers, those are often the best leads: the project is funded, permitted and about to buy.
What it isn't: homeowner phone numbers or a "no contractor yet" flag. Since September 14, 2026 the city has left the permit-holder field mostly blank, so we don't claim to know who has hired a builder.
How the free trial works

FAQ
Where does the data come from? Is it legal to use?
It comes from the City of San Diego's open data portal (Development Services permit approvals, which update daily). The city publishes it under the Open Data Commons Public Domain Dedication and License, and the portal FAQ says "There are no limitations on usage or redistribution of the data available here." (data.sandiego.gov FAQ). We filter, tag, de-duplicate and format it so you don't have to. We aren't affiliated with the City of San Diego.
Which permits are included?
City of San Diego building and combination building permits for additions and alterations to 1–2 family homes, companion units/ADUs (including ADUs added on multifamily lots, tagged "Multi-unit"), room-type accessory structures and 1–2 family pools/spas, all with a city valuation of $15,000 or more. Retaining walls, fences, decks, solar and trade-only (mechanical/electrical/plumbing) permits are left out. Coverage is the City of San Diego only. Other cities in the county and unincorporated areas are not included.
How fresh is it?
The city's feed usually runs 1–3 days behind. We pull it Sunday night and send at 7am PT on Monday, covering the most recent complete Sunday–Saturday week the city has published.
Do you include homeowner names or phone numbers?
No. We remove individuals' names, including owner-builders and trusts, and list a contractor of record only when it's a company. You get the property address and parcel number. How you follow up is up to you, so please follow the laws that apply (CAN-SPAM, TCPA/Do-Not-Call, and California contractor advertising rules).
Is the free trial really free?
Yes. Stripe asks for a card at checkout, but you're charged $0 until the 14 days are up. We email a reminder before the trial ends, and you can cancel in one click from the billing portal link in every issue. Cancel before day 14 and you never pay.
Why are some permits missing a valuation?
Some permits, often "no-plan" kitchen/bath and window permits, have no valuation in the city data. Our $15K filter can't evaluate those, so they're left out rather than guessed.
Can I cancel?
Yes, anytime, in one click from the Stripe billing portal link in every email, or just reply to any issue. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Founding subscribers who cancel lose the $29 lock-in.
Will you cover other cities?
